Are You Trying to Figure Out How to Decorate Your Bulletin Boards for This School Year?

Last updated 6 years ago

Fall semester is on its way! Now is a great time to start decorating your classroom in preparation for a new school year. After choosing a layout for desks, tables, and chairs, you will be ready to move on to the fun stuff—decorating the walls. You can find a variety of bulletin board design ideas and other elementary teacher resources here at Florida Citrus. Use these ideas to get started:

  • “About Me” board. Getting to know classmates and making new friends is an important part of attending school. You can help your students practice their social skills and learn how to interact with peers by presenting an “About Me” board at the beginning of the semester. Have each student write, draw, or paint a message or image that represents who they are and what they like. Display each student’s work on the board to provide icebreakers for conversations.
  • “Goals” board. Teachers help students learn more about their passions and what they want to pursue in life. The beginning of the school year provides the perfect opportunity to get students to reflect on their goals for the upcoming semester and year. Ask each student to create a list of goals they want to achieve by the start of summer. They can also list long-term goals they wish to accomplish throughout life. Place each list on the bulletin board, as well as a list of common goals for the entire classroom. Each year, students can look back at the past year’s goals and see what has changed.
  • “Seasonal Reads” board. You can use various printouts and stencils to decorate your bulletin board to fit each changing season. Add an educational aspect to your seasonally-decorated board by creating slips of paper that students can use to list their favorite books of each quarter or semester. This can also be incorporated into book reports for older students.

These are just some ideas that you can use to add style and personality to your classroom’s bulletin boards. You can find more elementary school lesson plans and ideas by visiting the health and education experts here at Florida Citrus. Give us a call today at (813) 379-2736 to learn more.
